Tracking changes in the PDB

The PDB server and its mirrors provide several lists. They contain

• New protein structures
• Modified protein structures
• Obsolete protein structures

A list of all PDB entries that ever became obsolete is also available.

The PDBList.py script allows to download these lists easily. It also can download all new and modified structures. Thus, if run on a weekly basis (by copying it to /etc/cron.weekly under Linux), any local copy of the PDB will stay up-to-date.

The source code for PDBList.py has been included into BioPython.
