Twenty Characters

The twenty commonly used abbreviations of amino acids are not very apt to reflect the chemistry of the molecules they abbreviate.
I have applied the Hanzi Transformation method for creating a pictographic code that accurately represents protein sequences.

The image "Twenty Characters" got the prize for the best work of art at the ECCB/ISMB 2009 in Stockholm.

Program for translating protein sequences:

The program requires Python and the PIL library to run. It translates protein sequences in the FASTA format into images in the pictographic code.
